Wedding photojournalism is a philosophy of wedding photography where the wedding photographer's main objective is to photograph the wedding as it occurs without becoming involved in the wedding events. The photographs are primarily candid in nature and tell the whole story of the wedding day, from the preparation early in the morning right through the last dance.
The limited posing and minimal interaction between the photographer and the bride and the groom helps to keep the wedding flowing smoothly. Generally, the only time that the photographer will become involved in the wedding is during the formal portraits.
The greatest benefit to wedding photojournalism is natural emotion captured in the wedding photographs; the real laughter, the real tears and the real joy will make you love your wedding photographs.
Some of my favorite weddings have taken place at several Rochester wedding venues over the years. I am particularly fond of the Canandaigua Inn on the Lake, Colgate Divinity, the Genesee Valley Club, the Chautauqua Institute, the Mohonk Mountain House, the Esperenza Mansion and the Riverside Convention Center for weddings.
The Rochester Museum and Science Center, Cornell University, The Rochester Club, Ventosa Vineyards, Belhurst Castle, The Fontainebleau Inn, the Glenn Iris Inn, Artisan Works, Bristol Harbour, Geneva on the Lake and Heron Hill Winery are also great places in Rochester and the Finger Lakes to photograph a wedding.
You can see photographs from all of these wedding venues and more in Rochester by visiting the wedding photography portfolio.
Engagement portraits are a great way for a bride and a groom to become familiar with being photographed before their wedding. Most people have never been professionally photographed and don't necessarily know what to expect, making the engagement session an excellent way to raise a couple's confidence.
Also, an added benefit to an engagement session is having beautiful portraits made before your wedding day to be given to your parents and grandparents as gifts during the rehearsal dinner or wedding reception.
Brady Dillsworth can photograph your engagement session in Rochester or the Finger Lakes for $300, and the engagement photography session should be booked at least one month prior to your wedding.
